Vive La France: DJ Vibe in Paris

October.10.2008 @ 4:24 pm by DJ Vibe from LOLA | Posted in DJ Vibe & Max Barbaria

I just got back from playing fashion week in Paris along with DJs Jus Ske & Sal Morale. It was a great time and we played some amazing shows. I played parties for Tenjune and Mr. West at L’eclaireur Bar (Gallery Royale), a unique space that combines art and fashion with a nightlife environment.

Friday and Saturday nights were the highlights of the trip. Jus, Sal and I played for the Paris club and restaurant Sens at their annual “Don’t Tell My Booker” party hosted by 1Oak & Usher. Many thanks to Cyril Peret and DJ Magnum.

I ended my trip playing Sunday night at the Paris hot spot BC (Black Calavados) for a slew of models who refused to go home. I ran into my friends Jean and Paul Dupuy from Tokyo which was a bug. Thanks again to Sal Morale for orchestrating my whole trip and Jus for putting up living with me.

Beck Concert in a Palace in Harlem

October.10.2008 @ 12:51 pm by emmett from lola | Posted in Cold, Concert, Contemplative

Last night the Sollis brothers, myself and Vanessa went up to 175th street to the opulent United Palace theatre. MGMT performed too but we were too busy being lost in Washington Heights. We met up with Alexandra, and ended up sitting right up front, which is funny because we found out midway through the show our tickets were for the night before’s show…
I am not the most informed Beck fan, but the show was somber, personal, and creative. Regardless of the music, being around a few thousand people in literally a Palace is fun. Here are some photos:

The Junior Society of Ballet Hispanico Fall Benefit will take place on Thursday October 16th and is a night you don’t want to miss. It will start at the Joyce Theater at 8pm with a performance by the Ballet Hispanico Company followed by an After-Party from 10:30pm – 12:30am at the nearby North Cabanas of the Maritime Hotel. With all ticket proceeds to benefit Ballet Hispanico’s arts and education program in NYC public school’s, $120 to see a dance performance and attend a fabulous party is a bargain.  Can’t make it to the show? Don’t worry; party-only tickets are available for $75 in advance or $85 at the door. For those who would like bottle service VIP tables are available for $375 and up.

Click to purchase tickets/tables https://patronsecure.com/ballethispanico/donation_event.cfm?donation_event_id=6 or call Elizabeth at (212) 362-6710 ext. 43.

My good friend Greg Passuntino is a multi-faceted talented dude. His latest project is Injoyed.com. The concept is simple. Take pictures that fall into the category of art and design on your camera phone and either email or SMS it to snap@injoyed.com. Save it in your phone book. In about two months he will be having a show of the best 10,000 images. Contributors will get credit below their photo(s) and are obviously invited to the show! Only camera phone photos will be accepted.

Check it out and send it your photos. - www.injoyed.com

Book Em’

October.8.2008 @ 3:42 pm by emmett from lola | Posted in Books, Smarten' Up, The Desert, The Office

I like pictures, easier to read than books…

You can’t judge a book by it’s cover, but a great cover doesn’t hurt. With all the work we are going through now, I can’t finish reading all the magazines and books I have, and keep getting… so I bring them to the office and have them around to peruse, inspire, etc. A selection of what’s at the office:

10th Anniversary of Rocawear Limited Edition Book

These two photos of mine for the Roc Lingerie are in the book. Every other photo is Mark Seliger’s
